So what's wrong here? Are we born or destined to be frustrated in our love life? Or is there a better choice and way? Before you fall in love, there is a need to prepare yourself now to build healthy, positive relationship in life. You may even be in a relationship presently and you find yourself limping through pains and regrets. It's not yet over for you because you can make your priorities right. One can easily experience infatuation and claim to be in love and this results in a lifetime of regrets and sorrow. It is so dangerous to use infatuation as a sign to pursue a relationship. So before you embark on this voyage of love, it is crucial to define your emotions or feelings. Having a clear picture or definition of love and how it differs from infatuation will help you in making a right choice in life. Love is more than a feeling, it is a pure gift from God and so real. And for you to fall in love, you must understand the language of love.
The Greek language uses three words to connote love: EROS, PHILEO and AGAPE.
EROS is characterized by a burning passion and sexual desire. This kind of love ignites passion but there is much more to love than the sparks and fire of eros. Nowadays, many people focus on the eros aspect of love and this has left them wounded, empty, unfulfilled and longing for genuine and lasting connection.
PHILEO is the type of love which is referred to as that mutuality, that friendship, "having no string attached" part of love. It looks like a man and woman as best of friends. It basically involves living life with open mind, loyalty and communication. But these days, many people have taken phileo type of love to be true love leading to heartbreak because phileo kind of love can easily flare and fade away,
Then there is AGAPE love which is described as the giving love. It is basically a sacrificial love, so selfless and pure - love that is ready to continue to move forward not minding the odds. This kind of love energizes the other types of love. In agape love, the relationship is not about you, it is not about what you can benefit or get, it is not a give and take kind of relationship, it is a type of love that remains loyal, truthful and steadfast even in the worst of times. So, before you fall in love examine the three types of love and determine which one you are ready to give because a healthy relationship requires all three types of love and desire to pursue a true agape love so that you can enjoy its benefits throughout your journey in life.
