JUST ONE THING - EPISODE 3
"Oh, baby
girl, hail to the queen herself," Amara chorused as Fola entered her room.
"What's up now? You never told me you'd be coming today. What can I use to
entertain you? And I just ate the remaining rice," Amara continued
cheerfully.
"Baby
girl, don't bother. I was praying on my way to your house that you would still
be at home since you told me you would be going for the rehearsal in
preparation for your audition," Fola answered Amara, who was already
bringing out the remaining malt she kept in her portable refrigerator.
"I was
almost rushing, and the rehearsal is scheduled for 5 pm. Just look at the
clock, it's already 3:20 pm, and if I don't get out of the house, I hope I will
not be trapped in this Lagos traffic congestion," Amara uttered her words
in a hurry, handing over the chilled malt with the glass on the tray to Fola.
"I can
drop you off since I am also going in that direction, so hurry up, dress up,
and let's zoom off," Fola told Amara, who was already fixing herself in a
nice, beautiful three-quarter gown.
Fola quickly
gulped down the last sip of her malt as Amara rushed to her closet to choose
the perfect accessories to complement her outfit. "Thank goodness I
planned my outfit in advance," she thought to herself as she grabbed a
statement necklace and slipped on a pair of elegant heels.
Fola glanced
at her watch and tapped her foot impatiently. "Come on, Amara! Time is
ticking away," she exclaimed, her voice filled with a mix of excitement
and urgency. "You can't afford to be late for your rehearsal."
Amara emerged
from her room, looking stunning with her hair styled in loose curls and a touch
of makeup accentuating her features. She grabbed her bag and locked the door
behind her, eagerly joining Fola at the entrance.
As they made
their way towards Fola's car, the sun cast a warm glow on the vibrant streets
of Lagos. The city's bustling energy seemed to match their enthusiasm for the
upcoming audition. Amara couldn't help but feel a flutter of nervous
anticipation in her chest.
Once they
were seated in the car, Fola turned on the radio, filling the space with lively
music. The rhythmic beats and infectious melodies uplifted their spirits,
making the journey through the busy streets a little more enjoyable.
As they
approached the outskirts of Lagos, the traffic began to thicken. Fola
skillfully maneuvered through the congested roads, taking alternate routes
whenever possible. Their conversation flowed effortlessly, a mix of
encouragement, laughter, and shared dreams.
Amidst the
honking horns and chaotic city sounds, Amara found solace in Fola's reassuring
presence. Fola's unwavering belief in her talent and unwavering support gave
Amara the confidence she needed to give her best during the rehearsal.
After what
seemed like an eternity, they finally reached the rehearsal venue just in time.
Amara thanked Fola for the ride, her gratitude shining through her eyes. With a
quick hug, they parted ways, each filled with anticipation for the journey that
lay ahead.
As Amara walked into the rehearsal space, she took a deep breath, ready to showcase her skills and seize the opportunity before her. With Fola's friendship and the memories of their shared journey, she felt ready to conquer the world, one audition at a time.
